The start of production at the Jubarte oil well marks a technological step forward for Brazilian state oil company Petroleo Brasileiro.

Brazilian state oil company Petroleo Brasileiro (Petrobras) plans to begin production from the Jubarte oil well in the Campos Basin on Aug. 12, O Estado de S. Paulo newspaper reported Aug. 6, citing anonymous sources within Petrobras. The well is expected to initially produce 10,000 to 15,000 barrels per day (bpd). Though this production level is relatively small, it marks a technological step forward for Petrobras, which has recently discovered two extremely deep water deposits — Tupi and Jupiter.
