China’s Supreme People’s Court has reinterpreted a regulation setting up a system for sending litigation documents back and forth across the Taiwan Strait. The reinterpreted regulation speeding legal action on both sides of the Taiwan Strait came into effect April 23. By easing the delivery restriction on legal documents concerning Taiwanese citizens in the mainland and persons in Taiwan involved in mainland litigation, Beijing is signaling it will afford greater legal protection for Taiwanese operating in the mainland.
