A Qantas Airways Boeing 747 was forced to land in Manila on July 25 after something ripped a hole in the aircraft. While evidence of foul play has not yet surfaced, several factors surrounding the incident bear examination.
The incident July 25 in which a Qantas Airways Boeing 747 aircraft suffered a sudden decompression about two hours after leaving Hong Kong has grabbed our attention. The airliner was reportedly cruising at 29,000 feet when passengers heard a loud bang and saw a hole appear in the floor of the cabin followed by the rush of air. The airliner lost pressure, causing the crew to rapidly take the aircraft to a lower altitude and make an emergency landing in the Philippine capital of Manila. Upon landing, the aircraft was found to have a gaping hole in its right side. Baggage and clothing could be seen hanging from the hole.
