Hondurans will elect a president, 289 mayors and 128 legislators Nov. 27. The leading contenders in the presidential race are National Party candidate Porfirio "Pepe" Lobo Sosa and the Liberal Party's Manuel Zelaya Rosales, who remain virtually tied in pre-election polls.
Rampant violence perpetrated by youth gangs -- or maras -- has become the most important campaign issue, replacing economic and social issues.
